The property is situated on a sloping, hilltop site in a conservation area on the edge of town with panoramic views of Epping Forest to the north and the City of London to the south. Taking a planning and conservation area consent by others, together with Epping Forest council officers, we developed the house design and landscape setting of this substantial and sympathetic, contemporary extension and alteration to an existing Arts and Crafts house. To make the most of views out of the site, we carefully orchestrated levels to integrate internal spaces with the extensive areas of outdoor terrace and living areas, including an outdoor pool to the west.
Our interiors team worked closely with the client to shape the interior spaces and develop and procure the beautifully crafted bespoke furniture, lighting, joinery and central feature stair. The combination of contemporary forms with warm, rustic textures compliment the rural architecture and landscape, creating a fantastic, comfortable home rooted in its surroundings.
